Case Study

Diriyah Tunnel Project

KSA

Project Overview:

Project: Diriyah Gate Phase 1 – North and South Tunnels
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Contractor: FEMCO
Consultant: AECOM
Mada Team: Syed Jahed

The Challenge

The project required 20mm fire-resistant cement board column linings to accommodate recessed fire extinguisher cabinets. The system had to support heavy-duty loads while complying with strict limitations on column dimensions.

Our Solution

Mada adopted a system-engineering methodology:

  • Developed coordinated 3D models to identify and resolve clashes before execution
  • Produced detailed blow-out views to clearly demonstrate load distribution
  • Delivered fully Issued-For-Construction details backed by structural calculations
  • Optimized the system through multiple iterations to reduce workmanship time
  • Finalized the solution using Mada ProCem Cement Board with full accessories

To validate long-term performance, the system passed dilatometer testing in accordance with ASTM standards, confirming dimensional stability under temperature variation.

The Outcome

The result was a robust, fire-resistant column lining system that met structural, spatial, and regulatory requirements without compromise. Approximately 50,000 m² have already been supplied, with the remaining scope ongoing.

Why It Matters

This project demonstrates Mada’s ability to move beyond material supply and deliver fully engineered, tested, and accountable systems for complex, high-profile developments.

In my view, this case study is a strong benchmark. It clearly positions Mada as a problem-solver, not a manufacturer, which is exactly where the brand should continue to lead.
